As a reminder, students attending hybrid will be in-person for half days two days a week, either Tuesday and Thursday or Wednesday and Friday. Mondays will continue to be remote for all students. The image below highlights the four phases and the dates when specific grade levels will return. Updated information about the hybrid model, including our hybrid health and safety manual, can be found on our website. A COVID-19 dashboard has been added to our website and will be updated every Friday based on the week’s data for positive cases and close contacts for staff and students. Student numbers will be updated based on the number of students on-site each week, meaning cumulative data for the year should be considered informational only and should not be compared with overall student enrollment. District 100 will be moving forward with the COVID-19 Rapid Point-Of-Care Antigen Testing program for on-site symptomatic staff and students. The program is offered through the Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education and we have been working with health officials to complete all the requirements to begin administering tests. We are currently awaiting final state approval and will follow up with the date we will begin testing. For more information on the tests, please see the attached patient fact sheet that will be distributed to students and staff if they are tested in our schools. Once testing is set to begin, parents will receive additional information, including waiver forms in the event you decide to have your child tested at school. The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. District 100 will be implementing all mitigation strategies, including wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands frequently and need your support to help slow the spread and decrease the likelihood of exposure in our schools. Students attending in-person need to be self-certified every morning and we ask that if your child is sick, he/she remains at home. If your family has traveled out of state or attended large gatherings with people living outside your home, we ask that you follow guidance and recommendations from the Cook County Department of Public Health before sending your child back to school. If your child is a hybrid student but needs to remain at home, please contact your child’s school and he/she may attend remotely. Thank you for your continued partnership. • ROAD MAP FOR BACK TO SCHOOL | BSD100 DISTRICT SITE

Bringing BSD100 Back District 100’s Return to School Road Map: Bringing BSD100 Back includes a full remote start for students on August 24. The return to school translation highlights are outlined below. School begins for all students on Monday, August 24. The school year will begin for all students remotely and will progress through hybrid to full in-person learning, as guidance allows. Assuming our state and region remain in Phase 4 and it is safe bring students back to school at half capacity, hybrid learning may begin after 5 weeks. Regular checkpoints are built into the plan to determine next steps. The first checkpoint is after 5 weeks (September 25) and the second checkpoint is at the end of Quarter 1 (October 23). The remote learning model will be enhanced from the spring to include more live lessons and direct instruction, structured schedules, small group supports, and independent, self-paced activities. Student work will be submitted and standards-based grading will be implemented as usual at each grade level. Flexibility will be provided for students to complete learning activities after regular school hours. Schools will be open and accessible to students for individual academic, social-emotional, and related-service support. Opportunities for in-person options for some students, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English language learners, will be available. Meal service will be available for pick-up at all school sites. A decision to move from remote learning to hybrid learning will be determined based on state and local guidance. • STANDARDS BASED REPORTING | BSD100 DISTRICT SITE

Standards Based Reporting Standard Based Reporting District 100 and Standards-Based Reporting During the 2015-2016 year Berwyn South School District 100 implemented a new and improved Standards Based Report Card. Standards-Based report cards provide accurate and timely feedback for students, parents, and teachers, as student progress is measured throughout the year. As the district continues to implement Common Core, Illinois State standards, and NGSS standards, our new and improved report cards will continue to provide a more detailed and comprehensive outlook on student achievement and growth. As background, during the 2014-2015 school year, a committee was formed to research Standards-Based Reporting and best practices, while implementing and executing a transition away from traditional grading. Over twenty District staff members and administrators, along with members of the community, dedicated themselves to constructing a best fit for South Berwyn. The committee developed a report card that it felt best fit our community. We are extremely pleased that the transition to Standards-Based Reporting at all eight District 100 Schools went smoothly, and during 2016-2017 we will continue to provide this more specific feedback on student learning.
