iSWAT is an incredible club to help build student leaders - It has a focus on technology, but is primarily intended to create student leaders who feel empowered to improve their schools through effective, efficient and innovative uses of technology by delivering PD to teachers and staff, creating newsletters and/or coaching students to create in their classrooms (i.e. coaching a 2nd class with iMovie and publishing it on Youtube)!
The clubs meet (on their own at schools) once a week and have the creativity to lead their iSWAT clubs as they wish based on their buildings needs. Field trips will be involved that will be set up by the coaching department. Leaders will attend a monthly meeting (online or in person) to touch base with other team leaders. Teachers also will recommend 4 iSWAT kids to participate in student PD 1/month set up by iCoaches. The student PD is called AoK (Ambassadors of Knowledge). The AoK members come to learn about targeted skills in leadership and technology (presentation skills, editing, Hour of Code, etc)
