School District 100 Profile

Welcome to School District 100

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the District 100 web site. During the year, this web site will contain information about various aspects of the school district. The Board of Education and district staff are committed to providing the children of Berwyn with a quality education.

The district staff members are available to provide assistance and answer questions, and we encourage parents and community members to contact school personnel whenever necessary. The addresses and telephone numbers of the schools and the administration center are available in this web site.

About the District

School District 100 serves the community of South Berwyn, which is located approximately 15 miles west of the city of Chicago.  On a clear day, you can see the Chicago skyscrapers looming in the sky just east of Berwyn.  The school district has six elementary schools (K-5) and 2 middle schools (6-8), and the student population continues to increase.

The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all students.  Some programs address the needs of the gifted student population while other programs focus on at-risk and special needs students.  Some student’s needs are addressed by reading, Title 1, and bilingual teachers who are located in each school.

Student test scores continue to improve, and, this year, additional reading teachers have been hired to work with students and provide extra help with reading skills.  After school, students have many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities such as, but not limited to, sports programs, academic competitions, and fine art activities.

Our Parents and the Community

Parents and community members are a valuable part of the educational process.  One of the major links between parents and the schools is the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).  Through various fundraising activities, the PTA actively supports programs for the children in District 100.  We view parents and community volunteers as assets to District 100 and welcome them into the schools.

Be a School Volunteer or Partner

We encourage individuals to volunteer in our schools and businesses to become partners with our schools.   It is easy to become involved with the schools in District 100.  It is as easy as calling the school of your choice and offering your assistance.  Please think about sharing your expertise and call a school today.

We welcome individuals and businesses to join us in helping the children of the Berwyn community.  A business may adopt a school and work closely with the staff and students during the year.  Ideas for school and business partnerships are endless.  Just call a school and explore the volunteer and partnership possibilities.  With the help of individual volunteers and business partners, the District 100 students will benefit.
