Komensky History: The current Komensky Elementary School was built
in 1974 as a K-8 building accommodating 300 students. An additional 8
classrooms were added in 2003. Currently there are 18 K-5 classes with 432
students.
A Man called Komensky:
Komensky Elementary School was named after Jon Amos Komensky. Komensky was born March 28, 1592 in Nivnici, Moravia.
He introduced the first illustrated text books. He believed in universal
education and physical education for both males and females. He wrote
hundreds of books on education, which earned him the title "Teacher of Nations."
